Growing Place Style
Our gardens are an extension of our homes. Many of us are
entertained by the project shows on TV and the amazing transformations
you can see in just a half
hour. Just for fun, we’ve created a whole series of demonstrations and ‘reruns’ that
will help you with your own garden projects.
At both locations
throughout the year
Summer Color Splash…
May 17, 10am or May 20, 6pm
Work with our designers to create your own summer container. Includes all
materials for $49 or free to observe.
Designed to Entertain…
May 31, 10am or June 3, 6pm
Decorate your garden to delight your guests.
Fall Color Splash…
August 23, 10am
Work with our designers to create your own fall container. Includes fiber
pot and all materials for $49 or free to observe.

Fun for Growing Kids…
Did you know that any time you bring your child to The Growing
Place in Aurora, the Annual Department has a plant for them to
pot there or at home to watch it grow?
There are fun activities at the both locations…
In Naperville, they will find a huge sandbox and a playhouse.
In Aurora, kids will find even more! There is a sandbox, a bug-mobile,
a caterpillar big enough to climb on and their very own miniature
garden at just the right height to play in. Although it is not
really small (3’x 8’), it is filled with touchable
plants, toy animals and little people.

For adults & children
Make
a Container Water Garden for Birds &
Butterflies… June 21, Aurora
10am… for kids, $10 Kids will be able to create a
miniature habitat that birds and butterflies (and maybe
toads) will love. Morning includes a chance to go on a
bee safari to see our hives and
1pm… for adults, $10
plus materials
Make a Summer Stepping Stone… July 12, Aurora
10am… for kids, $15. Flowers, leaves and
even hand-prints will embellish these stepping stones. Feel
free
to bring something to permanently save in concrete but make
sure it will take winter weather and be flat enough to walk
on.
1pm… for adults, $15. Make
a Butterfly Hatching Station… July 19, Aurora
10am… for kids $10. Lynn Hall, our butterfly mid-wife,
will help you build your own station and show you how
to find eggs and what care they will need.
1pm… for
adults $10.
Children’s Tea Party… August
9, 10am,
Aurora
For children and their parents. Tea parties aren’t
just for tea at The Growing Place! Enjoy Garden activities,
make a miniature garden and, of course, have refreshments.
Prices based on your selected activities.
