Growing Place Grown Plants

We have been growing our own plants since our beginning as Emma’s Perennials in 1936. We continue to grow almost 100% of the herbs, vegetable plants and mums and many of the perennials and annuals we sell.

Sustainable Growing

While we are not certified organic, we make every effort to be responsible, eco-friendly and sustainable. We use products that are approved for organic gardening and strive to use natural products and practices whenever possible, including employing beneficial insects. As an added safety precaution, edibles are grown separately from ornamentals in our production facilities. While not certified organic, all practices and products for edibles are approved for organic gardening. We sell certified organic products for you to use in your garden.

NO GMOs Here

GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are organisms whose genetic material (DNA) has been modified in a way that does not occur naturally, e.g. through the introduction of a gene from an unrelated organism.

We do not sell or grow genetically modified seeds or plants.

Hybrid plants are sometimes confused with GMOs but they are not the same. Hybrid plants are created by crossing specific plants through controlled pollination. Plant hybridization has been done for centuries to breed for desired characteristics and many of the plants we carry are hybrids.
